Attractions in Piran
Tartini Square

Tartini Square is the heart of Piran’s old town, surrounded by exquisite Venetian-style architecture. The square is named after the famous Piranese composer Giuseppe Tartini, whose statue stands in the center. Nearby is Tartini’s birthplace, now converted into a museum. In summer, the square hosts numerous concerts and cultural events.
Church of St. George

This magnificent Baroque church towers over the town, offering stunning views of Piran, Portorož, and the entire Gulf of Trieste. Inside, the church features beautiful frescoes and artworks, and its bell tower, modeled after Venice’s St. Mark’s, is a highlight. Climbing the tower rewards visitors with a 360-degree panoramic view.
Town Walls

Partially preserved medieval town walls once protected Piran from invasions and now offer one of the best viewpoints along the Slovenian coast. The climb through history is rewarded by spectacular vistas, perfect for photography.
Benečanka (House of the Venetians)

One of the oldest buildings on Tartini Square, built in the Gothic-Venetian style, known for its red facade and the romantic inscription "Lasa pur dir" ("Let them talk"). It is a true architectural gem and symbol of Piran’s civic spirit.
Piran Aquarium

A great spot for families and marine enthusiasts. The aquarium showcases many native Adriatic species, including fish, sea urchins, octopuses, and crabs. An educational and fun experience for all ages.
Maritime Museum

Located in the beautiful Gabrielli Palace right by the coast, this museum displays the rich maritime history of the Slovenian Littoral region—from traditional fishing to merchant shipping. Exhibits include ship models, maps, naval equipment, and more.
